Florida Atlantic University initiated the Community Education Research Digest in 1985 and Don MacKenzie has served as the Managing Editor until his retirement in 1999. The Digest contains condensations of research papers concerned with improving neighborhoods through more effective educational activities. The reports provide research-based ideas on interagency cooperation, needs assessment procedures, effective use of volunteers, before- and after-school child care, and many other allied subjects.
