Dean Fink is an international educational development consultant. He is a former superintendent and principal with the Halton Board of Education in Ontario, Canada. He is a visiting fellow of the University of Hull, and visiting scholar at the Queens University –Belfast. In his career he has taught at all levels of education from primary grades to graduate school. He has been a senior manager at both primary and secondary levels. In the past ten years Dean has made presentations or conducted workshop in 30 different countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Russia, Romania, Ukraine, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, Mongolia, Spain, Singapore, and the Baltic States.
He has published numerous book chapters and articles on topics related to school effectiveness, leadership and change in schools in such journals as Phi Delta Kappan, Educational Administration Quarterly, Educational Leadership, the International Journal of Educational Change and School Effectiveness and School Improvement. He is the author or co-author of Changing Our Schools (Open University Press, 1996) with Louise Stoll, Good Schools/Real Schools; Why school reform doesn’t last (Teachers College Press, 2000), and It’s About Learning and It’s About Time (Routledge/Falmer Press, 2003) with Louise Stoll and Lorna Earl. His new books are Sustainable Leadership with Andy Hargreaves for Jossey Bass, and Leadership for Mortals: Developing and sustaining leaders of learning for Corwin/Paul Chapman.
