Superintendent of Schools, Broward County, Florida
In July 1999, The School Board of Broward County, Florida welcomed Dr. Frank Till to lead its schools. Dr. Till earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics/economics (1969) and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction (1973) from San Diego State University. He went on to get his doctorate from the University of Southern California in 1980.
During a career of over three decades, he worked his way up through the ranks and held numerous positions including teacher, assistant principal, principal, and deputy superintendent in San Diego City Schools. He also taught at San Diego State University and the University of Southern California.
As superintendent, Frank Till has concentrated on building support for the school system by developing and expanding positive relationships within the community, especially with business, government and religious leaders. Dr. Till has made student achievement in Broward County a top priority. He has provided the leadership to ensure positive outcomes for the District as it implements the Governor’s A+ Plan. Broward County Public Schools academic growth has reached national norms. It is one of four of the largest school districts in the country to exceed national norms.
Dr. Till has won many awards including the Richard Green Urban Education Award, The NCCJ Silver Medallion, and has been recognized by the Broward community with various awards and recognitions such as Broward County Man of the Year and the Sawgrass Role Model Award. He was selected by the U.S. Government to represent the United States in an international summit in London, England, as well as Germany and France.
Dr. Till presently serves on the Boards of Directors for Broward Alliance and National Conference for Community & Justice (NCCJ), United Way, Special Olympics, and NCSS. Some of Dr Till’s publications include:
