Greetje van der Werf
(General and Differential Effects of Constructivist Teaching)
Greetje van der Werf is full professor in Educational Science at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. Her fields of interest and study are effective teaching and learning, differential educational effects, and educational equity issues. She has published about effective teaching strategies for improving student outcomes of low SES and ethnic minority students, about education in developing countries and about equity and excellence in secondary education. Currently she is coordinator of a national longitudinal cohort study in secondary education, aimed at evaluating national policy to improve secondary schools. In this cohort students’ long term attainment is studied and explained from an integrative perspective, in which social-cultural (e.g. SES, ethnicity, cultural resources), psychological (e.g. personality, social relations, social comparison) as well as school and teacher level factors are taken into account
